Energy means vibration. Any vibration has a frequency; frequencies are often indicated by figures, called Hertz. The human body has a very complex energy system, with various frequencies interacting. The human energy system reaches far beyond the human body and does not stop where the physical body stops or begins.

Outside the body there are many energy layers in the form of magnetic fields. It is still uncertain how far these fields can reach. However, distance may not to be determined. Problems in these energy layers cause a disturbance and hence disease in the human body. The human energy system is dynamic. It reacts to exterior influences such as the weather, sun, moon, stars, environment, work situation and upbringing. Also it reacts to interior influences such as body functions, our food and drinks, our set of values, feelings and intuition. The interior and exterior influences are in separately connected in a coherent system. Consequently, we live in one big energy system called the Universe and are part of that system. Our own energy system is a very small part of that bigger whole system. One might say, everything that exists is energy.

Our body tries to regulate the exterior and interior energy influences so that they are not harmful to us. We call this regulation system our energy household. If our energy household is disturbed and we cannot deal with this disturbance, we get stress. There are many types of stress. Stress need not be a bad thing; some people need some form of stress in order to perform well. Stress does not feel wrong then. We call this positive stress or positive tension. Usually, however, stress feels uncomfortable or heavy. The following symptoms, then, are to be noticed: tension, loss of self-esteem, restlessness, exhaustion or extreme fatigue, loss of temper or being often irritated, inertia, insomnia, feeling depressed or gloomy. Also body disturbances like irregular heartbeats, dry mouth, stomach ache, intestinal problems, breathing problems, back ache, pain in the neck can be possible stress symptoms. If stress continues to last over a period of time, it becomes chronic. Stress is a surviving signal that the body uses to indicate that there is overburdening.

In my practice I notice that today's stress is usually based on traumatic or nasty experiences in the past. Stress often originates during pregnancy and seldom does stress occur at the moment of conception. Much stress originates in childhood. Stress need not always lead to a direct health problem. Stress is usually built up over a long period of time. Stress may also be caused by certain drastic events in our daily lives. The body tends to connect all these different types of stress, thus creating complex stress programs.

There is no one simple medicine against stress because stress is complex and different for each individual. To prevent stress or stop stress in a primary phase, one should use good food and minimalism sugar and meat/fish, and add fresh vegetables, fruit and wholegrain rice to the daily menu. The use of tobacco products, alcohol, drugs, sweets, cold products, spices, drinks with gas or colouring should better be avoided. Also the mind should be developed through good talks with friends, reading good literature, a well-planned hobby and nature walks. Drinking water on a regular basis (for instance a few sips every hour) is a simple remedy. Work should never be the most important thing in life. Saying  'no' more often and pampering yourself is of utmost importance. Do not squirm any more. It is also useful to express one's feelings and to stand up for you. Feelings that are expressed can no longer go astray in the body.  Even if the listener does not react to the expressed feelings, expressing them causes less stress than keeping them bottled up.

When people visit me in my practice I first make a diagnosis of the kind of stress factors and their causes. Then I run a test, by means of specialised kinesiology, to find out what comparable stress experiences the body has in stock. Stress experiences often originate, on a conscious level, in childhood. Unconscious material may possibly be registered in former generations. I also check how to restore stress resistance and what elements need to be changed in order to stop or reduce stress. Supporting methods like laser acupuncture and homoeopathy can be of help. Some people are born more stress-resistant than other people. Upbringing is of great influence on stress-resistance.
